About the Company

Lift Ventures, a remote-first startup studio whose portfolio of businesses has reached over 250 million consumers to date, is seeking a seasoned and talented software engineer for SuperSummary, our fast-growing EdTech business.

SuperSummary is a subscription-based website and mobile app offering a library of professionally written study guides and other educational tools and resources on thousands of books for students, teachers, and readers of all types.

As our engineer, you’ll be collaborating closely with our talented group of 11 engineers, as well as with product, design, and research team members.

You’ll help accelerate development of our robust long-term product roadmap, focusing on enhancing interactive, user-facing features to improve users' experience and drive subscriber engagement and retention.

Additionally, you'll contribute to the advancement of our proprietary Content Management System and conduct A / B tests on different parts of our conversion funnel.

This role is 100% remote, located in Latin America. Our fully remote team is distributed across the globe with the majority of the team working in the United States, Brazil, and the Philippines.

About the Job

As a Software Engineer at SuperSummary, you will contribute to building and enhancing our core products, directly supporting our mission of delighting our readers.

You'll work on developing new features, improving existing systems, and solving complex technical challenges, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.

You'll play a key role in driving innovation, scalability, and a seamless user experience, making a tangible impact on the company's growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution and Problem Solving

Develop and maintain scalable, efficient, and robust code for a wide range of projects.

Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, contributing to the planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of software solutions.

Assist in architectural and design discussions, ensuring that solutions are scalable and maintainable.

Proactively identify and address technical debt and areas for improvement in code quality and system performance.

Collaboration and Teamwork

Collaborate with team members, including software engineers, product managers, and designers, to define project requirements and deliverables.

Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to peers and incorporating feedback into your work

Contribute to team discussions and technical meetings, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to the table.

Professional Development and Mentorship

Seek out opportunities for personal growth and professional development, including learning new technologies, programming languages, and engineering practices.

Support the growth of junior engineers by providing guidance and mentorship, helping them to improve their skills and navigate their career paths at Lift Ventures.

Sample Projects

Scale tool innovation strategies : This project will involve leveraging AI and automation to streamline internal processes, enabling us to efficiently generate high-quality, relevant tools for users.

The engineer will optimize workflows, enhance AI-driven tools, and implement scalable systems.

Explore innovative ways to acquire subscribers : This project focuses on experimenting with user engagement strategies aimed at converting free users into paying subscribers.

The engineer will collaborate with the product and marketing teams to design, build, and test features that drive engagement.

They will use data-driven insights to identify what resonates with users, iterating on solutions to optimize conversion and retention rates while maintaining a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Create a reading experience that fosters long-term customer loyalty : In this project, the engineer will enhance the platform's user interface and user journey, ensuring that our subscribers have a seamless, intuitive, and enjoyable reading experience.

This could involve refining navigation, improving content delivery speed, implementing personalization features, and ensuring accessibility across different devices.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of software development experience, demonstrating a growing expertise in software engineering principles and practices.

Proficiency in our core technology stack (Ruby on Rails, React) and openness to learning new tools and languages.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.

Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a track record of successful collaboration in a multi-disciplinary team.

Demonstrated ability to take initiative, commit to self-development, and contribute positively to team dynamics.

Solid understanding of computing theory and fundamentals, such as algorithms, time / space complexity analysis, and data structures
